Brief Biography:
Yvonne Coughlan is an experienced professional with over 20 years’ experience in the healthcare sector. She is currently working as a clinical terminologist in the National Release Centre for SNOMED CT in the HSE. Yvonne has gained extensive experience throughout her nursing career working in the front line from staff nurse to Nurse Manager in an extremely busy acute medical unit and various other areas such as bed management and IT Department in one of Ireland’s largest teaching hospitals.
Yvonne has also gained experience and insights from working abroad in Australia and most recently working in the UAE as part of the commissioning team for a new hospital in Dubai which heavily focused on being a paperless hospital. After returning from the UAE and re-entering the Irish health setting Yvonne decided to complete a Masters in Digital Health Transformation as this is an area she felt requires change in the Irish setting to ensure safer patient care and overall improvements with the healthcare setting. Having successfully completed her Masters this led her to her current role within the HSE as part of the Standards and Shared Care Records an area that Yvonne is extremely passionate about.
In Yvonne’s current role she helps projects align their datasets with the internationally recognised SNOMED CT to standardise their data to ensure interoperability and high standards are met. Yvonne is also the coordinator for the DSMP which helps projects standardise their data and prevent silos within their project. The DSMP will be Yvonne’s focus in her presentation today.
