Brief Biography :
Professor Richard Greene is a Clinical Professor with over 25 years of experience in healthcare and higher education. He specialises in clinical practice, medical education, epidemiological and Service based research, and hospital management. He has contributed significantly to advancing healthcare practices, particularly in maternity services through the NAtioanl Perinatal Epidemiology Centre and the development of the Maternity and Newborn Clinical Management System (MN_CMS), a key initiative in Ireland’s healthcare transformation.


Dr. Greene holds a B Agr. Sc. from University College Dublin and an MB, BCh, BAO from Trinity College Dublin. He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland, highlighting his commitment to clinical excellence.

Richard has been a mentor and supervisor to many students, medical trainees and research students undertaking Masters (8) and PhD’s (9 graduated; 4 current) and post-doctoral researchers (4). He continues to support the organisation by advancing clinical standards, mentoring future healthcare professionals, and fostering innovation in medical education.

Richard is the HSE’s CCIO working across the Chief Information Officer and the Chief Clinical officer functions, assisting the multidisciplinary working for a digital health future.
