Vision and Direction
The Electronic Health Record (EHR) programme within eHealth Ireland has been engaged with EHR vendors from across the globe in the first part of 2015. The purpose of this engagement has been to enable Ireland to build a case for change; a document that describes what an EHR deployed in Ireland would bring to the delivery of care, what the value would be of such a system and an approach that Ireland could take to adopting such a system.
This document has been created against a principle of request for comment, over twenty five vendors have provided insight into this as has a wide ranging clinical community however eHealth Ireland are open to your thoughts and comments on this, how it could be delivered, where it should be prioritised. Your comments can be passed to the eHealth Ireland team via the questions@ehealthireland.ie email address or via the @eHealthIreland twitter contact.
Richard Corbridge CIO of the HSE said,
“The publication of this document is a further milestone achieved along the path towards the delivery of an electronic health record for every patient in Ireland. The advice, guidance and open nature of the engagement thus far has enabled the team to build a vision and direction document that I believe sets the tone for the next six months activity in this area.”
