Meet the Team

Keith Nimis 1

Keith Morrissey - NIMIS Programme Lead GM, Technology and Transformation keith.morrissey@hse.ie

Keith is the current NIMIS Programme Lead.  He has been involved with the NIMIS project since its early inception in September 2008 as Radiographer lead.  He played a key role in the procurement and subsequent design phase of the project.  He took on a Project Manager role from 2013 overseeing the successful implementation of the NIMIS system across many of the 40 sites currently operating the NIMIS solution.

Keith took on the challenge of NIMIS Programme lead in 2015 and has endeavoured to balance the requirement to continue and complete system implementations with that of optimising system performance and functionality, whilst seeking to deliver system enhancements where possible and practical to do so.  He remains a passionate believer in the ability of NIMIS to significantly improve the imaging service provided to our patients.

In his pre NIMIS life, Keith qualified as a radiographer from UCD and worked for 10 years in St. James’s Hospital being involved in the implementation of the Cerner EPR/RIS/PACS on site as PACS Manager.

In his free time he is a self confessed bookworm and Sci Fi nerd.  A passionate student of History and Politics he is always conscious of the lessons that History is looking to teach us if we are willing to listen and learn.  He is a yearly Camino pilgrim and this year finished the last Camino section into Santiago.  He is a “glass half full” type of person and adopts a positive attitude to life in general.

Keith is in the position of being a Kerry, Munster and Arsenal supporter.

Sharon joined the NIMIS National Team in 2013.  She qualified as a Radiographer from the University of Ulster at Jordanstown and has over 20 years experience in Radiography and Healthcare Management.  She developed a keen interest in RiS/PACS while working abroad in Bermuda and carried this knowledge back with her to Ireland.  The NIMIS NT became a natural fit for her expertise and working with her inspirational team members, both past and present, has ignited a passion for eHealth and spurred her to become a champion for the future of digital healthcare in Ireland.

She has a number of Leadership and Management courses under her belt, along with the PRINCE2 qualification in Project Management.

She was a champion Irish dancer in her youth but has now traded in her dancing shoes for gardening gloves, becoming a reluctant gardener a few years ago, which she now thoroughly enjoys.  She also enjoys globe trotting in her spare time, having visited many exotic countries. Next stop Galapagos Islands!

Thomasina Nimis

Thomasina Coyle- Senior Project Manager, NIMIS National Team Thomasina.coyle@hse.ie

Thomasina commenced employment with the HSE as a Senior IT Project Manager late 2017 and immediately joined the NIMIS national team. Having attained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Industrial Management and Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast, Thomasina’s early career was spent exclusively working in US Tech Multinationals. Her experience is diverse from Quality Engineering, Lean Six Sigma, Project Management, Programme Management, Product Management and Advanced Analytics.

Thomasina became interested in pursuing a career in the Healthcare arena several years ago and this prompted her to undertake Postgraduate study in the Medical Devices field. This was the catalyst for her move to the HSE.

Working in NIMIS provides Thomasina with a myriad of opportunities which suit her diverse skillset. Although her NIMIS career is in its’ infancy, in less than 18months she had worked across challenging projects including IT Security Audit, NIMIS BI solution and national fleet PC upgrades. For Thomasina, being able to contribute in some way directly or indirectly to Patient care through NIMIS provides immense job satisfaction.

Outside of work, Thomasina is in her element as Mum to her wonderful young children!

Gary Nimis

Gary Monk - NIMIS National Team Gary.Monk@hse.ie

Gary worked closely with the NIMIS National Team as PACS Manager for Connolly Hospital for many years, this lead to his secondment to the NIMIS NT in May 2018, which he is greatly enjoying. Gary is currently working on the Children’s Health Ireland implementation project , the NIMIS2.0 RIS Upgrade project and has particular interest in departments outside Radiology such as Respiratory and Cardiology.

Gary qualified as a Radiographer from University College Dublin in 1995 and worked in the National Orthopaedic Hospital of Ireland; Letterkenny University Hospital; and Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown where he still performs radiographer duties. He became interested in RIS/PACS as wanted an alternative to the inefficient paper and film based system. Gary established “RUG”, the RIS user group between Connolly Hospital, Naas Hospital and St. Columcille’s in 1999, bringing together the hospitals, the local IT Departments and the vendor to improve the maintenance, performance and upgrades to the RIS application.

Gary was the PACS Manager for Connolly hospital for 6 years. This included the NIMIS “go live” in 2012. He loved the technical and user challenges of bringing Radiology, Cardiology, Vascular, DXA and Respiratory Departments live in NIMIS. He is an advocate for bringing all imaging departments outside Radiology into NIMIS as he believes this improves patient care.

It’s been a few years since Gary's own competitive sporting days on the badminton courts, but his busy family life keeps me in shape. He mentors St. Oliver Plunkett’s Eoghan Ruagh under 9’s Girls Gaelic teams and enjoy following rugby, football and golf.
