Neal Mullen-Chief Information Security Officer

Neal Mullen is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the HSE, bringing over 25 years of global experience in cybersecurity, risk, and resilience across the healthcare, construction, technology, and retail sectors. He began his career with a background in Biomedical Engineering, working as a technical and security consultant in healthcare for nine years before joining St. Vincent’s University Hospital as Group Deputy Director of ICT Operations.

In the private sector, Neal held senior cybersecurity and resilience roles with leading organisations including KPMG, Bertelsmann (as Global Head of Operational Resilience), Dunnes Stores (as Head of Cybersecurity), and CRH (as European Head of Cybersecurity).

He holds a Master’s degree in Technology and Innovation Management, and professional certifications including Certified Cyber Risk Officer, NIST Certified Security Expert, and accreditations from the Business Continuity Institute (MBCI, DBCI). In recognition of his industry impact, Neal was inducted into the Business Continuity Institute Hall of Fame in 2019. He also serves on the Cybersecurity Advisory Board for the Safehouse Initiative, helping to shape global cybersecurity strategies for SMEs.
