Emmett Carolan is Head of the Integrated Information Service which is the central data analytics service for the HSE.

Emmett has spent over 15 years focusing on data analytics, both in academic research positions and the private sector. Emmett holds a double honours degree in Computer Science and Physics, a masters in Electronic Engineering and a PhD in Electronic Engineering from Maynooth University.

Emmett’s academic research interests focused on applying predictive modelling to big data sets to solve large scale dynamic resource optimisation problems.

Prior to joining the HSE Emmett was a principal data scientist in Siemens where he worked with large manufacturing clients to unlock the potential of their data.
