European Cyber Security Month – October 2024

The European Cybersecurity Month (ECSM) is the European Union’s annual campaign dedicated to promoting cyber security among EU citizens and organisations, and to providing up-to-date online security information through awareness raising and sharing of good practices.  

To celebrate this month and to showcase the work being done within the Technology and Transformation function we will be publishing a number of articles to provide information on our activities around cyber security and cyber hygiene. 

The healthcare sector has become an attractive target for cybercriminals due to the sensitive nature of patient data and its increasing reliance on digital systems.  

As a healthcare provider, ensuring robust cyber hygiene across the organisation is no longer optional—it is critical. The health of the HSE’s digital infrastructure depends on the vigilance of us, the employees and the security protocols that we follow. When suspicious activity is identified, prompt reporting to the National Service Desk (NSD) is essential.
