Neurotransmitter, Innovation Challenges and Health Tech

Neurotransmitter, Innovation Challenges and Health Tech

Neurotransmitter is an innovation competition for healthcare workers and students at Saolta Health Group.  This competition helped healthcare professionals develop their own ideas or innovations for the day to day challenges they face.  This programme was coordinated by the lead NCHD (Non Consultant Hospital Doctor) and partnered by eHealth Ireland, NDRC, Bioinnovate, and NDTP (National Doctors Training & Planning).  Over 100 staff attended the open evening leading to 27 ideas submitted of which 10 were taken forward for further development and coaching through series of workshops & presented at special pitch night. After this successful launch, we are hoping to take this programme national.

eHealth Ireland run a series of Innovation Challenges across Ireland which will allow budding entrepreneurs, technologists and healthcare innovators both within HSE and externally the opportunity and space to develop their ideas and concepts further.  Our first challenge, Bipinnovate was held in conjunction with Trinity College Dublin to look for digital innovations to assist those affected by Bipolar Disorders.  The winning idea of a chatbot to assist patients is currently being further developed by eHealth Ireland.

eHealth Ireland has also partnered with the NDRC’s Health Tech Ireland’s first digital health pre-accelerator (http://www.ndrc.ie/healthtech/).  This six week programme allows HSE staff the opportunity to form teams with budding entrepreneurs, technologists and healthcare innovators to develop innovative and disruptive technologies to improve healthcare.
