Chief Information Officer
Jane Carolan is National Director for Health Business Services (HBS) and Interim Head of the Office of the CIO in the Health Service Executive (HSE). HBS is the shared services entity which provides a wide range of business supports to the HSE through an integrated customer focussed model. HBS services include Procurement – Logistics and Sourcing, Estates – capital planning and developments, Finance – payroll, accounts payable, reporting and HR – pensions, recruitment, personnel records and HR and Payroll systems/analytics. Through both roles Jane is particularly focussed on maximising digital business transformation within the health sector. A priority for Jane is driving forward the national Electronic Health Record for Ireland. Jane believes openness and transparency are key to ensure all stakeholders are aware of the digital transformation to build a better health service. Jane is passionate in embracing change, building resilience and looking at challenges from a new perspective as they are the only way to move forward in times of continuous evolution. She is a member of the HSE Leadership Team. Jane previously held the position of Head of Planning and Corporate Performance for the HSE and has a great interest in strategy development and execution. A Chartered Physiotherapist by profession and a graduate of TCD (BSC Physio), she also holds an MBA from the Smurfit Business School in UCD, a BA in Public Management from the Institute of Public Administration, a Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Governance from UCD and a BA in Spanish and French from the Open University. Jane has over 20 years experience in senior management roles within the health system.
