On the 29th May, the HSE announced that they will embark on a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) competition in conjunction with Enterprise Ireland. This collaboration is a new initiative in Ireland's health service. The focus of the competition will be to optimise the HSE's response to specific health challenges through dynamic innovative solutions.

Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) is a global pre-commercial procurement initiative. Administered by Enterprise Ireland, SBIR Ireland aims to drive innovation across all sections of the Irish Public Sector via robust engagement with technology-rich companies. Public sector organisations then engage with SMEs through competitive challenges. Enterprise Ireland's SBIR initiative has been gaining traction since the first challenges were launched in 2016. Ten challenges are currently running across contracting authorities nationally, and 12 new challenges are launching in 2018. to find out more about SBIR and the upcoming HSE Challenge please sign up here.
